How to Make a Salt/Sugar Body Scrub

If, like me, you’re coming out of Winter with your skin shedding like a snake, then here’s a simple DIY recipe for a body scrub you can try. You will need:

Ingredients:

  • Essential oils (20-30 drops total)

  • ¼ cup carrier oil

  • 1 cup of salt or sugar

  • Small bowl

  • Mixing spoon

  • Glass jar

Instructions:

  1. Select the essential oil or blend you’d like to use - you’ll find some ideas below. Add the drops in your bowl.

  2. Quickly add ¼ cup of carrier oil (Fractionated Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, etc…) and stir gently to combine with your essential oils.

  3. Add 1 cup of salt/sugar (Himalayan Pink Salt, Brown Sugar, etc…) and mix thoroughly. Once you have combined all the ingredients, you can adjust the texture of the scrub to your preference. Some like their body scrub to be more oily, so you can slowly add more carrier oil, until you reach that consistency.

  4. Store the mix in your glass jar.

All that’s left to do is enjoy! Be sure to create a small moment of self-care and relaxation for yourself, and enjoy the benefits of Aromatherapy, not only for your skin, but also for your mind.

Pro-Tip: When using this scrub in the shower, I prefer to use a small spoon to get the product from the jar. Using our wet hands directly will add moisture to the scrub, increasing the chances of bacteria growing there.
